| MUSICOM - percussion day |
|
Firebird Trust facilitated the first of a series of training days for musicians at St Peter-in-Eastgate Infant's School in Lincoln on Saturday 24th January lead by Leo Nolan, an experienced musician and percussionist.
The main training day was well attended by 7 local musicians, all of whom will be exploring their professional development with Firebird over the coming year.
Matthew Hall said "Leo's knowledge of percussion and teaching it was first class - I really enjoyed the workshop".
On Monday, Leo spent a busy day working with all the pupils in the school, sharing songs and activities, inspiring their group music-making and, in the process, passing on lots of new ideas to their teachers. Although the purpose of the day was to give local musicians an opportunity to watch Leo in action, the benefit for the children was clearly evident. Finally, we would like to give a special thank you to local musician, Jane Pennock, who very kindly lent us her percussion instruments on Saturday.

The session provided them with an opportunity to try out various workshops games, mainly focusing on rhythm, and even at one point, learning to play bhangra on the school chairs!
