On Wednesday nights, the family activity group meets in Queens Hall, Binbrook and on one occasion had the opportunity to try taster guitar sessions with musician and artist, Liam Robinson.....

During his time at Brookenby and Binbrook over this winter, freelance artist and musician, Liam Robinson, was keen to provide as many varied activities for people to dip into and experience. The guitar being the dominant musical instrument in modern [western] music, he thought it would be interesting to give people some taster guitar lessons, but with the twist of teaching blues slide guitar.

This is based around moving the slide around the guitar neck rather than having to use various fingers to press down on strings. Five teenagers - 4 boys and 1 girl - took up the offer of 10 minute one to one slide guitar lessons. Liam taught them a simple slide "lick" which all of them managed some level of success in playing. Most of the youngsters were complete beginners and only one had previous experience of playing guitar. So well done them!!

Liam is now hoping to widen participation in the 10 minute slide and offer it to other groups in both Binbrook and Brookenby.
